LT vs. LS Swap Parts: What’s Different?

At first glance, the LS and LT engines look pretty similar, but when it comes to swapping one into a BMW, the differences start stacking up quick. The LT uses a different engine mount bolt pattern, the intake and exhaust ports are in new locations, and the front accessory layout is completely different. The engine also sits in a slightly different spot, which affects things like steering clearance, driveline angle, and how everything lines up under the hood.

This kit takes everything we've already figured out with our LS swaps and adapts it to work with the Gen V LT architecture. The mounts, brackets, and layout are all adjusted for the LT, but the overall approach is the same. Keep it clean, make it functional, and eliminate the guesswork so everything fits the way it should.

The accessory drive builds off the Camaro LT1 setup and adds what GM left out: BMW hydraulic power steering and a Sanden A/C compressor. Since LT engines don’t come with a power steering pump, we designed a bracket system that solves both needs, fits with room to spare, and still lets you reuse the A/C lines from our LS kits.

Compatible with a variety of transmissions and developed specifically for RWD chassis (E90, E92, E82, etc.).


Key Features

Engine Mounts

  • All-new design for LT engines – different bolt pattern and location than LS.

  • Tubular, slotted design offers install flexibility and engine location adjustment.

  • Compatible with E90, E91, E92, E93, E80, E81, and early model X1 (E84) using a RWD subframe.

  • Note: X-Drive subframes are not compatible due to steering rack interference with the Sanden A/C compressor.

Transmission Compatibility

  • Works with 6L80E, T56/TR6060, 4L80E, 4L60E, TH400, and BMW manual transmissions.

  • DCT crossmember supports multiple trans options with minor modifications.

  • 4L80E may require slight trimming for pan and connector clearance.

Accessory Drive & Fitment

  • BMW power steering pump and a driver-side Sanden 508 A/C compressor

  • Uses factory Camaro LT1-style accessory drive: alternator, tensioner, and water pump—Corvette accessories are not compatible.

  • Compatible with LSe9x Sanden A/C lines and fittings

  • Compatible with N52 6-rib and N54 7-rib power steering pump pulleys (N55 pulley not supported).

  • Requires Holley-style LT swap oil pan for chassis and steering rack clearance.

Construction

  • Brackets are laser-cut from 1/4" steel, powder coated in wrinkle black.

  • Kit includes mounting hardware and idlers (compressor and alternator not included).

  • Requires Sanden 508 (5H14 style) 6-rib compressor—reference image provided.
